WORLD HARINAAM WEEK – REPORT OF DELHI TEMPLE AND IT’S PREACHING CENTRES.

FARIDABAD PREACHING CENTRE
1) On 4th Sept (50th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada sannyasa), a Hari Naam was organized in Sector 37. The Harinaam started at about 7 PM and ended at about 10:15 PM. About 250 devotees (including visiting devotees from East of Kailash temple, Faridabad temple resident devotees and Faridabad local congregation) participated and more than 2000 onlookers benefited as they had darshan of Sri Sri Gaur Nitai dioramas who traveled with the Sankirtan party. About 1800 leaflets explaining the benefit of the Holy Name and the introduction of Srila Prabhupada were distributed and close to 400 Srila Prabhupada books, amounting to Rs. 10,000/- were distributed by the team led by HG Madhu Sundar Prabhu, the leading Book distributor from Delhi.
2) The President of a local Yoga society was approached and with his agreement, on 4th September, after the Yoga class got over, 35 odd members were requested to congregationally chant the Holy Names. Two rounds of Japa were chanted in a chorus. The members pledged to chant 1 round daily till 11th September and requested the local congregation devotee HG Dr Smita Krishna Prabhu to come daily and lead the chanting. On 8th September, the members further pledged to continue chanting 1 round daily even after 11th. All glories to Holy Name ! All glories to the World Holy Name Week !
3) On 5th September, the Faridabad congregation devotees experienced something very inspiring. With the agreement of a Senior School owner and Principal, devotees entered different Class rooms and the students were handed over chanting beads and Japa was done in chorus. In all, 140 students did 2 rounds of Japa and another 160 students chanted 1 round of Japa – in all, 440 rounds of Japa, 760000 names were chanted within half an hour. The intensity with which the students of all age groups chanted motivated all the devotees who were serving on the occasion. The Principal invited devotees for a second round on 11th Sept (the day of Srila Prabhupada's arrival in US) when more than 700 students are expected to participate and the devotees will have 1 hour with them. Also, the teachers seemed fascinated too and a special Seminar has been organized for them on the 19th September at the school premises. This is only 1 branch of the 3 schools owned by the Sikh lady and there are so many many schools which are yet to be touched. The preaching opportunities are immense - the Holy Name is the revealer !
4) On 6th September, about 75 Faridabad congregation devotees participated in the Maha Harinaam at East Delhi.
GURGAON PREACHING CENTRE
It was a normal evening on the streets of Gurgaon or Gurugrama as scriptures enjoin on 5th September 2009 .Though it was supposed to be world environment day ,there was nothing in the environment that suggested anything auspicious . Nothing – till Sriniket Prabhu and his band of effulgent , energetic devotees started singing slowly ‘Namo Vishnu Padaya ’ and “ Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare , Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare” . The streets of Sadar Bazar are known to be jam packed in the evening on most working days but when Prabhupada’s mercy flowed as if on cue from his Pranama Mantra the crowd hastily made way for nearly 150 devotees from ISKCON Delhi and Gurgaon . Mridangas , Kartalas,Wompers,
African Drums,innumerable pairs of hands and unbridled enthusiasm - it was a concoction , no one could have resisted .The Sankirtan Party ushered in- a bullock cart drawn by massive bullocks carrying the photo forms of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai,Sri Sri Narsimha Deva and Srila Prabhupada. Behind this cart there was a truck carrying copious quantities of Khichdi Maha Prasadam for the spiritually “Hungry” people of Gurgaon . The holy name , His devotees , His own deity form followed by His causeless mercy - what a sequence for a procession !! .There were also innumerable placards of the Holy name and Panchtattva banner . Over 200 devotees drawned by the holy name and drawing the enthusiasm of scores of Gurgaon Citizens, gradually made their way over the stretch of over 3 Km , which whould be a part of Gurgaon Rath Yatra which is scheduled on Nov 29th ,2009 .
When the Mridangas boomed , could Brihad Mridangas keep quiet , the legendary book distributors from Delhi along with their inspired protages from Gurgaon enthusiastically distibuted Srila Prabhupad`s transcendental “Time Bombs” to the eager recipients of Gurgaon . The Book distributors of Gurgaon remarked that depite the partly empty stretches on route they managed to do record book distribution . Param Vijayate Sri Krishna Sankirtanam !!
The Yatra culminated at the Anaj Mandi Shopping area where huge number of ISKCON patrons has their shop . At one of our key congregation members` shop/godown Sumptous Prasadam and a Kirtan arena were arranged for the Sankirtan Party , here at the shop the Kirtan reached the crescendo and the tumultous sound of Mridanga and Kartals along with the melodeous voices of devotees who were chanting “ Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare , Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare .” reverberated the environment , Krishna Bhakti is Shubhada .
Naturally with hundreds of devotees chanting Mahamantra , scores of books been distributed and hundreds of plates of Khichdi prasadam being distributed , all auspiciousness prevailed in Gurgaon on the world environment day . World Harinaam Sankirtan week ki Jai , Srila Prabhupad ki Jai .
MALAVIYA NAGAR, NEW DELHI :
Delhi Temple organized a grand Harinaam in South Delhi at Malaviya Nagar on the 11th September. It was raining throughout the day but in the evening when the Harinaam started the rain stopped. Harinaam continued for 4 hours from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M. H.G. Mohan Rupa Prabhu along with his youth devotees led the program.. There was ecstatic kirtan with several mrindagas, kartals, whompers and trumpets echoed and the entire area became spiritually vibrated. The participants were honored with prasadam at various places by the enthusiastic people of Malaviya Nagar. It was a surprise to all to see that as soon as the program came to an end, the rain again started, The rain God helped the devotees by keeping the rain away from them.
EAST DELHI PREACHING CENTRE :
Harinaam in East Delhi was a great success. More than five hundred people participated in the Harinaam, in which many devotees from Congregation, BACE centres of Delhi, Youth Forum, etc. also joined. Devotees from Delhi Temple and Faridabad centre also participated in the Harinaam.
