Celebrating Holy Name Globally
We had an intense and wonderful 12h-kirtana at our temple yesterday.
On Radhastami, H.G. Fakir Mohana Prabhu from Bhubaneshwar (who takes care of the
personal Deities of Bhaktivinode Thakur, Radha-Madhava) came for a short visit
to our temple. It was amazing to hear him speaking on the Holy Name, on japa,
on sankirtana, etc. He said it’s most important to perform harinama-sankirtana.
He made, in a witty and cynical way, fun of the people who never have time for
harinama-sankirtana. They claim to have sooo many services and have no time
whatsoever, but then you see them standing somewhere in the temple and talk for
hours… ;-) He also said that we should write the maha-mantra on the walls
wherever we are living since that will remind us of Sri Harinama Prabhu all the
time.
We took that suggestion to heart and printed the maha-mantra in different shapes and
forms and colours and put it all over our temple along with some inspiring
slokas for chanting.
The kirtana yesterday was really nice! First, we were a little scared since we had some
gaps in our list and we didn’t exactly plan out who is going to sing when…but
somehow, by Sri Harinama’s mercy, there were always some devotees partaking. We
lost count, but there were at least 50 people taking part in the kirtana during
the day. That was a very good experience. Krishna
preserves what we have and he provides what we lack.
Radhe Radhe!
