WORLD HOLY NAMES WEEK (10TH TO 20TH SEPTEMBER 2011)

THE WORLD HOLY NAMES WEEK was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the devotees of ISKCON, Chandigarh. A number of programs were organized by the devotees to commemorate the week. The celebrations filled the hearts of devotees with great joy and also gave opportunity to so many people to get introduced to holy name and chant the holy names of the Lord

Bhajan Sandhya

            On the evening of 10^th September 2001 World Holy Names Week was inagurated with a special Bhajan Sandhya invoking the mercy Srila Prabhupada, previous Vaisnava acharyas and Sri Sri Radha Madhava which was attended and appreciated by more than 200 devotees and visitors.  Vaishnava Bhajans in glorification of the holy name were sung by the devotees.

Maha Nagar Sankirtan

On the evening of 15th September a 2-hours Maha Nagar Sankirtan was organized in the most happening part of the city, Sector 17 Plaza. In this, more than 200 devotees of the congregation, temple and ISKCON Youth Forum participated. The visitors to Plaza, needless to say, were pleasantly surprised by this and joined the Sankirtan. Hundreds of people chanted the holy name, which is all-purifying. People were appreciating the dancing youths and enthusiastic devotees and the efforts of ISKCON.

Special Nagar Sankirtan

On 13^th September evening a similar Nagar Sankirtan was organized in Krishna Market, Sector 41-C of the city. Also in this program more than 100 devotees participated and Prasadam packets distributed to all.

Japathon

Every evening from 10^th September to 20^th September a Japathon table was set up in front of the temple hall with beads. A devotee was there at the table to encourage people to participate in Japathon. Many people chanted Hare Krishna Mahamantra 108 times with bead in a specially built place marked with 108 numbers on which they can chant one mantra standing on one number and then go forward and like this completing 108 times of Mahamantra.

Sankirtan Yajna

            From 10^th to 20^th September every evening special Sankirtan Yajna was performed in the temple hall from 5.30 PM to 7.00 PM.

Special Classes in Temple on Importance of Holy Name

On 11^th & 18^th September (Sundays) special classes were held in the morning & evening on the importance of Holy name. More than 150 devotees attended Mangal Arati, 16 rounds Japa, Guru Puja and Srimad Bhagavatam class in the morning on both Sundays.  In the evening over 800 people attended the program in the temple. Full Prasdam was served to all the devotees and visitors both morning and evening.

September 19, the day on which Srila Prabhupada reached New York, a special class was held glorifying how Srila Prabhupada reached New York and inaugurated the auspicious preaching of Holy Name in USA and spread all over world.

Special Programs in different Sectors of the city

Harinama Sankirtan and the glorification of Holy Name were done at Patiala, a city 75 Km from Chandigarh on 11^th September 2011.

September 17, the day on which Srila Prabhupada reached Boston, USA we performed a Harinama Sankirtan and the glorification of Holy Name at Sector 38C, Chandigarh.

Hence by the mercy of Sri Guru & Gauranga uncountable number of people got the benefit of chanting Holy Name on the special occasion of World Holy Name Week through the loving efforts of ISKCON Chandigarh devotees.
