Iskcon Gurus Join
Hands for World Holy Name Week
By H.H. Lokanath Swami
naca, gao, bhakta-sange kara sankirtana
krsna-nama upadesi’ tara’ sarva-jana
“My dear child, continue dancing, chanting and performing
sankirtana in association with devotees. Furthermore, go out and
preach the value of chanting Krishna-nama, for by this process You
will be able to deliver all fallen souls.”
(CC Adi 7, Text 92)
I would like to express my gratitude to all the senior devotees of
ISKCON who have come forward and responded to my appeal that we all
join hands to promote World Holy Name Week.
I would especially like to thank the devotees who are performing
the sacred service of diksa guru for helping by encouraging their
disciples to participate and especially for being exemplary leaders
by personally participating in this program themselves.
By all of us joining together to cooperate to spread Krishna-nama,
we can please Srila Prabhupada.
Srila Prabhupada's greatest desire was to spread the chanting of
the Holy
Names all over the world. To fulfill this desire, the GBC
established World
Holy Name Day during Srila Prabupada Centennial in
1996. Taking charge of
the program at that time, was my beloved friend and godbrother,
H.H. Bhakti
Tirtha Swami. World Holy Name Day, was a tremendous
success.
This year we are celebrating World Holy Name Week and the response
has been extremely encouraging from ISKCON’s leaders. ISKCON
Gurus actively supporting the program and promoting it amongst
their followers include:
· H.H. Romapada Swami
· H.H. Sivarama Swami
· H.H. Bhakti Caru Swami
· H.H. Prabhavishna Swami
· H.H. Vedavyasapriya Swami
· H.H. Sacinandana Swami
· H.H. Mahavisnu Swami
· H.H. Bhakti Vikasa Swami
· H.H. Bhakti Caitanya Swami
· H.H. Candramauli Swami
· H.G. Matsyavatar Prabhu
· H.H. Kadamba Kanana Swami
· H.H. Bhakti Vijnana Goswami
Many spiritual leaders in ISKCON are coming forward to participate
in this program and promote it amongst our communities. I
apologize for not specifically mentioning everyones’ here.
However, we plan to publish everyone’s reports, photos, etc, on our
website.
This is a unique offering to Srila
Prabhupada on the 50th Anniversary of his Sannyasa, as this
is the first time, to my knowledge, that so many ISKCON gurus are
joining together to promote a preaching program, since Srila
Prabhupada’s Centennial in 1996 and Srila Prabhupada’s 108th
Appearance Anniversary in 2004.
World Holy Name Week fulfills the mandate of ISKCON because it
specifically addresses number four of the seven purposes of the
International Society for Krishna Consciousness incorporated on
July 11, 1966:
(4) To teach and encourage the sankirtan movement, congregational
chanting of the holy name of God as revealed in the teachings of
Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
World Holy Name week has the potential to help spread the holy name
to every town and village of the world, thereby fulfilling the
prediction of Lord Caitanya.
Prthivite ache yata nagaradi grama
Sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama
“In every town and village, the chanting of My name will be
heard.”
My realizations of this program, even before it officially begins
on September 2nd (and some temples have already started) are very
sweet. Communicating with all of ISKCON gurus and leaders has
been a special occasion to associate with senior devotees that I
usually don't get an opportunity communicate with. This has
been very enlivening and relishable.
I hope that this becomes a trend: gurus communicating and
cooperating and working together to achieve common aims with common
resources.
I’m very pleased by the positive response. I hope that this
continues in the future.
Leaders often are busy in management and big festival programs and
sometimes have less opportunity to fully absorb themselves for
extended period of time in the Holy Names. I hope that in the
coming week, of September 2 - 11, 2009, you can take a Holiday or
make it a Holyweek of World Holy Name Week.
In conclusion, I would like to wish everyone a blissful World Holy
Names Week.
Thank you very much.
Your servant in the service of Srila Prabhupada and the Holy
Name,

Dear Lokanath Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila
Prabhupada.
Thank you very much for taking such an active role in spreading Sri
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's sankirtan movement. Srila Prabhupada will
indeed be very pleased with you.
I will also try to actively give my input in this. Where will you
be during that week?
I hope this meets you well.

Dear disciples and friends and well-wishers,
Please accept my best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Yesterday I received a wonderful letter from His Holiness Lokanath
Maharaja, my long term guru bhai and great example of someone who
has dedicated his life to chanting and spreading chanting. I think
you know that since I am also a "Holy Name-man" I very much value
his service and his association. He has asked me to request all of
you to participate in the world Holy Name week. Imagine, for one
week all over the world devotees will come together and make a
special endeavor to glorify the Holy Name. Wonderful. I believe
that when so many devotees chant together the atmosphere of the
world will change and you will be able to derive a special strength
and encouragement for your own participation in the chanting. All
the vibrations of our mutual chanting either in japa or kirtana
will circulate the globe and give it strength and much needed
shelter.
Wishing you all the best and lots of spiritual strength,
Sacinandana Swami
His Holiness Mahavisnu
Swami
I am hereby requesting all my disciples to get involved in
the World Holy Name Week to "Save the Earth Now".If you are
grehasthas you can please try and do your jappa and at least
have some daily kirtans with the family members too and if
possible invite friends and neighbours sometimes. You can also try
and visit the temple programmes this week.Even a short one man or
woman and kids harinam up and down your street will be effective to
purify the neighbourhood.A bhajan on the front lawn may also
create a stir and bring the kids around. At work you can devise
ways to pollute the atmosphere with Harinam as much as possible
without getting fired. You can also sing more loudly the mahamantra
in the bath and on the loo*Firemen can chant whilst putting out
fires.
*Graffiti artists can splash out with innumerable Holy Name styles
in amazing places so that everyone becomes intriqued with
what's going on.
*Sportsfolk can start their football and other matches
by having their teams chanting the mahamantra.Preferably
forget the match and just have a big kirtan.
*Boozers can have harinam pub songs inside and out on
the streets and when inside the lockup they can also sing.
*Mountaineers can chant up and down and at the top of mountains*
Suicides can chant as they jump off*Terminal patients can be
surrounded by chanters as they pass away their life ultimately
successful.Politicians can begin and end their rallies and speeches
with the transcendental vibration of the Holy Names.
*Musicians and DJs can play the mahamantra on their gigs and
programmes .
*Soldiers can chant whilst they pull the triggers and drop
bombs.
* Crooks can chant the Holy names when they rob banks.
* Cancer cells can also chant
* Trees plants and other vegetables can chant in their own way.
*Birds can chirp the Holy Names and snakes can hiss Them.
*Fishermen can chant whilst fishing .
*Frogs can croak "Hare Krishna!"
*Lovers can chant whilst embracing one another
*Cooks can keep chanting.
*Gardeners can chant to the plants .
* Clouds can chant thunderingly.
* Streams and brooks can babble the Holy names
*Drivers can chant at full speed.
* The wind can breeze and sigh the Holy names through
pine forests
*Shop assistants can chant to their customers.
* Factory workers and bposses can chant in ecstasy.
*There are no hard and fast rules for chanting the Holy
Names.
Srila Prabhupada wrote in his Jaladuta Diary:-
tara iccha balavan pascatyete than than
hoy jate gauranger nam
prthivite nagaradi asamudra nada nadi
sakalei loy krsna nam
By his strong desire, the holy name of Lord Gauranga will spread
throughout all the countries of the Western world. In all the
cities, towns, and villages on the earth, from all the oceans,
seas, rivers, and streams, everyone will chant the holy name of
Krsna.
tahale ananda hoy tabe hoy digvijay
caitanyer krpa atisay
maya dusta jata duhkhi jagate sabai sukhi
vaisnaver iccha purna hoy
As the vast mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu conquers all
directions, a flood of transcendental ecstasy will certainly cover
the land. When all the sinful, miserable living entities become
happy, the Vaisnavas' desire is then fulfilled.Jaladuta Dairy 8.1:
Prayer unto the Lotus Feet of Krsna.
Jaya Srila Prabhupada!

In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational
chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings
the names of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He
is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants,
weapons and confidential companions. (SB 11.5.32)
Srila Prabhupada's greatest desire was to spread the chanting of
the Holy Names all over the world. To fulfill this desire,
